Autumnal Home Base Highball

a bottle of home base bourbon, a bottle of brown syrup, and a glass of rosemary sprigs are behind a brown cocktail with ice and a rosemary garnish on a white marble surface

We crafted this straightforward yet complex cocktail for the guests at our recent Outstanding in the Field dinner when Pie Ranch shared that they had an abundance of rosemary for us to use. We wanted a bright, easy-to-assemble before dinner drink and the result was refreshing and delicious!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 ounces Home Base Bourbon

1/2 ounce rosemary-lemon simple syrup

(recipe below)

3 ounces sparkling water

Garnish with a small rosemary sprig

Fill a highball glass with ice. Add bourbon, syrup, then sparkling water, and stir gently and quickly. Garnish with rosemary sprig.

Rosemary-lemon simple syrup:

Add 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, leaves from a few rosemary sprigs, and peel of one lemon to a saucepan and bring to a low boil. Boil for one minute then turn heat down and simmer for 15 more minutes. Remove from heat, cool the syrup then strain into a bottle/jar for storage. Use in recipe or keep in refrigerator for up to a week.
